Indenture septipartite between Henry VII and William [Warham], archbishop of Canterbury [the chancellor]; Richard [Fox], bishop of Winchester; [keeper of the Privy Seal]; John Islip, abbot of St Peter's Westminster, and the prior and convent there; [John or Edward Underwood] dean, and the chapter of the chapel of St Stephen's, Westminster; [Robert Sherborne] dean, and the chapter of St Paul's, London; and the mayor and commonalty of London. Procedure concerning penalties for non- performance of foundation indenture, etc (see E 33/1). THIS CAN ONLY BE SEEN IN THE NATIONAL ARCHIVES CONSERVATION DEPARTMENT

Abstract of text in Cal Close Rolls 1500-1509, no 392. Illuminated initial: Henry VII in Star Chamber, receiving indenture from William Warham, archbishop of Canterbury; Richard Fox, bishop of Winchester; John [?Edward] Underwood, dean of the chapel of St Stephen's; John Islip, abbot of Westminster; Robert Sherborne, dean of St Paul's; and the mayor and commonalty of London. Decorated border of portcullis and roses. Cover: chemise binding, the primary cover of crimson silk damask, with a pineapple design; outer chemise of burgundy velvet, edged with gold and green thread; three of four corner tassels of green silk and gold thread survive. Oak boards, indented. Fastening: three engraved hinges, and clasps in form of a rose, enamelled; with catch plates. Bosses: as E 33/1 Seals: in silver and silver gilt skippets; the common seal of Westminster enamelled with the convent's arms, the remainder identified by name in fine engraved capitals in classical epigraphic style on central bosses of silver gilt: Archbishop of Canterbury Chapter of Canterbury Bishop of Winchester Chapter of Winchester Common seal of St Peter's Westminster Common seal of city of London Common seal of St Stephen's, Westminster Common seal of St Paul's, London
