Folio 1: case no 1, James Coglan, aged 21, Ordinary Seaman; taken ill at Gibraltar; sick or hurt, syphilis, with several chancres on the prepuce and in the corona glandis; put on sick list, 18 February 1864, sent 18 March 1864 to Hospital at Malta. Folios 1-2: case no 2, Henry Richards, aged 20, Private Marine; taken ill at Gibraltar; sick or hurt, gonorrhoea; put on sick list, 4 February 1864, sent 23 February 1864 to Hospital at Malta. Folio 2: case no 3, Thomas Ellis, aged 22, Able Seaman; taken ill at sea; sick or hurt, phlegmonous erysipelas, deep seated phlegmonous inflammation of finger; put on sick list, 21 February 1864, sent 18 March 1864 to Hospital at Malta. Folio 17: Tables of medical statistics. Folios 18-20: Surgeon's general remarks. He ascribed the healthy condition of the crew of the ship to their being constantly employed in making short voyages, never continued long at one anchorage, and more over the ship company being berthed on a roomy, well ventilated main deck. Also included in the remarks are notes on a visit to Morocco of Sir Moses Montefiore for the purpose of obtaining an interview with the Sultan regarding the oppression of the Jews in Morocco. Folios 20-24: Copy of alphabetical sick list.
