Medical and surgical journal of HMS Atholl for 1 January to 19 October 1827 by William Aitken, Surgeon, during which time the said ship was employed on the coast of Africa, Arabia in the Red Sea, on the passage to Bombay, from thence to Trincomalee, to Madras, to Penang and on the passage from India to England and paying off at Portsmouth. Includes remarks on the stowage of the water supply in HM ships, recommending the use of lime as a precipitant of organic matters and general purifier. (Described at item level).
