Journal of HMS Ariadne for 20 November 1803 and 24 March 1804, by Luke Finn, Surgeon, during which time the said ship was employed in fitting out at Sheerness for sea and employed in blockading the French port of Havre de Grace.

Folios 23-24: Surgeon's general remarks. The ship's company was composed of drafts of men from the Zealand, which had been lately pressed and mostly ragged landsmen who either sold or lost their slop clothing on board the receiving ship, consequently none could be supplied them by the purser of our ship, till a limited time, a lapse of one month, during which period they became susceptible of catching cold.
