Medical and surgical journal of the emigration ship How from 13 April to September 1839 by D King, Surgeon and Superintendent, during which time the said ship was employed on a passage from Leith to Sydney, New South Wales.
Folios 1-2: Mrs J McKenzie, aged 40; disease or hurt, diarrhoea. Put on sick list, 30 June 1839 at sea. Discharged, 20 July 1839.
Folios 2-3: Ann Murray, aged 23; disease or hurt, catarrh. Put on sick list, 14 September 1839 at sea. Died, 25 September 1839 at sea.
Folios 3-22: Blank.
Folio 23: a numerical abstract of the sick book nosologically arranged.
Folios 24-25: Surgeon's general remarks.
