Folios 10-11: Surgeon's general remarks. The Red Rover received on board 120 male convicts at Woolwich on the 7-8 October 1830 and proceeded to Sheerness where she received 48 additional making in all 168 which she was to convey to Van Dieman's Land. We sailed on the 24th October [1830] for our destination with all on board very healthy and having encountered blowing weather in the Channel we were obliged to put back to Spithead where we remained three weeks and the weather during the greater part of this time so unfavourable that we could not at all times get fresh meat and vegetables for the prisoners. We finally put to sea on 18 November [1830].
