Medical and surgical journal of the Larkins convict ship for 17 May to 27 October 1831 by William Evans, surgeon, during which time the ship was employed in transporting convicts from England to Van Dieman's Land.

Folios 25-27: An abstract of the voyage providing details of the winds, weather, latitude and longtitude, barometer, thermometer, state of health on board at different periods during the passage and distance travelled per day (in miles). Saturday 18 June sailed from the Downs for Hobart Town, Van Dieman's Land, worked down the Channel against Westerly and South Westerly Winds, and took our final departure from Ushant on 28 June 1831.

Folios 28-31: Surgeon's general remarks. Surgeon joined the Larkins male convict ship at Deptford on 17 May 1831. On 26 May, the guard embarked consisting of Captain Williams, Lieutenant Espinasse, Ensign Fortescue and Assistant Surgeon Parry, fourty nine rank and file, six women and four children belonfing to the 4th Regiment of Foot. On 1st June the ship was towed down to Woolwich by the Queen of the Netherlands and Columbine Steam vessels and lashed alongside the Monmouthshire Hulk; reported her arrival to Commodore Warren and went out and inspected the convicts in the Justitia Hulk, preparatory to their embarkation. On 2 June at 2pm received 100 convicts from the Justitia. 3 June at 4am cast off from the Sheer hulk and were towed down to Gravesend by the Columbine steam vessel. At 8pm came to an anchor at the Lower Hope. 4 June 1831 at 6am weighed and worked down the River and anchored at 7pm off Sheerness dockyard. 6 June, at 9am inspected the convicts individually on board the Retribution hulk preparatory to their embarkation. At 11 received 50 on board from the said hulk. At noon received 30 convict boys from the Euryalus Hulk, Chatham. 7 june, received on board 100 convicts from the Cumberland Hulk, Chatham. A total of 280 convicts. We were visited this day by Sir William Burnett, the naval medical commissioner who inspected the prison.
