Medical journal of the convict ship Henry Porcher for 22 June to 9 December 1825 by Charles Carter, surgeon and superintendent, the said ship conveyed 176 male convicts to Port Jackson in New South Wales.
Folios 1-4: Thomas Chapman, private, 57th Regiment, aged 20; disease or hurt, febris. Taken ill, 10 August 1825 at sea. Discharged on 13 September 1825 to duty.
Folios 4-7: James Quinn, convict, aged 25; disease or hurt, febris. Taken ill, 17 August 1825 at sea. Discharged on 29 August 1825 cured.
Folios 7-11: James Blain, private, 57th Regiment, aged 21; disease or hurt, erysipelas. Pain over the anterior part of the tibia of the right leg. Taken ill, 21 August 1825 at sea. Discharged on 13 September 1825 cured.
Folios 11-13: Patrick Ryan, convict, aged 33; disease or hurt, pneumonia. Taken ill, 6 September 1825 at sea. Discharged on 24 September 1825 cured.
Folio 13: August to September 1825, a considerable number of the convicts and guard required purgative medicines.
Folio 13: On 21 September 1825 supplied Patrick Murray, a convict, with one right side truss.
Folios 13-17: Thomas Purcell, convict, aged 40; disease or hurt, scorbutus. Taken ill, 5 November 1825 at sea. Died 7pm on 29 December 1825.
Folio 17: On the morning of the 9th December, the whole of the prisoners were disembarked at Sydney (175 in number) having lost but one during the voyage. They were duly inspected and delivered over to the charge of Lieutenant Governor Stewart, who expressed to desire considerable gratification, at their very healthy, orderly and cleanly state.
