Description

Medical and surgical journal of His Majesty's convict ship Hector for 19 May to 24 October 1835 by Morgan Price, Surgeon, during which time the said ship was employed in conveying convicts to Van Dieman's Land.

Folios 1-4: Mary Harvey, aged 42, convict; case number 1; disease or hurt, dyspepsia. Put on sick list, 1 July 1835 at sea. Discharged 25 July 1835.

Folios 4-6: Charlotte Chapman, aged 22, convict; case number 2; disease or hurt, pyrexia. Put on sick list, 22 July 1835 at sea. Discharged 26 July 1835 cured.

Folios 6-9: Elizabeth Armstrong, aged 42, convict; case number 3; disease or hurt, dyspepsia. Put on sick list, 25 July 1835 at sea. Discharged 4 August 1835 cured.

Folios 9-11: Isabella Watt, aged 24, convict; case number 4; disease or hurt, icterus. Put on sick list, 31 July 1835 at sea. Discharged 5 August 1835 cured.

Folios 11-13: Patience Merchant, aged 53, convict; case number 5; disease or hurt, paralysis. Put on sick list, 22 August 1835 at sea. Discharged 2 September 1835 cured.

Folios 13-15: Jane Campbell, aged 52, convict; case number 6; disease or hurt, dysenteria. Put on sick list, 28 September 1835 at sea. Discharged [?] cured.

Folios 15-17: Elspet Leslie, aged 51, convict; case number 7; disease or hurt, rheumatism. Put on sick list, 30 September 1835 at sea. Discharged 26 October 1835 cured.

Folio 18: Helen Baldock, aged 23, convict; case number 8; disease or hurt, fever. Put on sick list, 2 October 1835 at sea. Discharged [?] cured.

Folios 19-22: Elizabeth Scott, aged 37, convict (a native of Scotland); case number 9 ; disease or hurt, gradual wasting of body with slight cough. Put on sick list, 3 October 1835 at sea. Discharged 23 October 1835 cured.
