Medical journal of the Cambridge, convict ship, for 10 May to 29 September 1827 by William Gregor, Surgeon and Superintendent, during which time the said ship was employed as a transport.

Folios 1-14: list of names in the daily sick book between 10 May and 29 September 1827.

Folios 15-17: Blank.

Folios 18-22: John Muckleston, aged 25, private 39th Regiment, taken ill off the Tuscar light; sick or hurt, fever, severe headache, pain in back and loss of appetite; put on sick list 10 May 1827, discharged 20 June 1827 to duty.

Folios 22-23: Thomas Cullen, aged 34, prisoner, taken ill at sea; sick or hurt, phthisis pulmonalis; put on sick list, 3 June 1827, died 27 August 1827 at sea.

Folios 24-28: Thomas Gately, aged 39, prisoner, taken ill at sea; sick or hurt, singultus, while on deck complained through an interpreter (being unable to converse in any language, but his native Irish) that he had been affected with painful hiccups; put on sick list, 8 June 1827, died 18 June 1827 off Island of Palma.

Folio 28, 31-32: James Price, aged 27, private 39th Regiment, taken ill off Tenerife; sick or hurt, intermittent fever; put on sick list, 17 June 1827, discharged 27 June 1827 to duty, put on list again for the same fever on 15 July, discharged 30 July 1827 to duty, he suffered a third attack on the 8 September which readily yielded to the exhibition of the sulph. quinine.

Folios 28-30: George Simmonds, aged 20, military convict, taken ill at sea; sick or hurt, chronic rheumatism; put on sick, list 4 July 1827, discharged 18 September 1827.

Folios 30-31: Thomas Shearman, aged 23, seaman, taken ill at sea; sick or hurt, intermittent fever; put on sick list, 13 July 1827, discharged 20 July 1827 to duty.

Folios 33-35: Peter Mullin, aged 22, private 39th Regiment, taken ill at sea; sick or hurt, pneumonia; put on sick list, 5 August 1827, discharged 10 September 1827 to duty.

Folios 35-37: Peter Byrne, aged 30, prisoner, taken ill at sea; sick or hurt, diarrhoea, acute griping pains and frequent purging, nausea, pulse quick and hard; put on sick list 24 August 1827, discharged 10 September 1827.

Folios 37-40: Bryan Murphy, aged 25, prisoner, taken ill at sea; sick or hurt, hydrothorax, complained of troublesome cough and difficult respiration; put on sick list 27 August 1827, sent 20 September 1827 to colonial hospital at Sydney.

Folio 41-43: Surgeon's general remarks regarding the prevalence of diarrhoea during the period August to September, not fewer than 58 cases, the cause of which may be attributed to the change of temperature and weather.
