Date

1293-1499

Description

This series consists of indictment rolls and files and comprises separate sub-series of indictments rolls and files for the Chester County Court, the sessions held by the Justice of Chester in Flintshire, and the Justice of Chester's eyres for Macclesfield hundred, town and forest. Some of the items in it are simply rolls, in the normal plea roll format; others, especially of the later fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, share the characteristics of rolls and files, with small file items interspersed with enrolments on the same thong; and there is one item which is purely a file.
