Shows the coast, Leigh, Prittlewell and South End (Southend) in elevation, with Leigh church, houses, windmill and trees; also shows part of Canvey Island, Canvey Spit, Chalkwell Ouze, Popling Sand, Leigh Creek, Leigh Swatch and the Slade, in plan. Also shows soundings. Title and explanatory statement in separate rococo cartouches. Reference table. Scale, within a rectangle: 1 inch to 1 furlong. Compass rose. Notes concerning an intended oyster ground. [By] J Barrow. (2) A photograph of this map, made for the Commissioners of Crown Lands by the Ordnance Survey. Photograph number A.O.441. Dimensions: (1) 47.8 cm x 68.6 cm; (2) 53 cm x 69 cm.
