Middlesex: St Marylebone (now in London Borough of Westminster). Map showing the area of 'Marybone' from Tyburn Road (now Oxford Street) in the south to Primrose Hill in the north. Shows field names and acreage; windmill, houses and brick-kilns in elevation. Reference tables: (1) to the plots coloured yellow, green and blue on the map, (2) to 'Bar[...] Hills' [Barrow Hills], the plots marked pink on the map. Title damaged and largely illegible. Scale: 1 inch to 16 perches. Compass indicator. By Henry Pratt for John Austen, Esq.
A label attached to the dorse, apparently in an early-twentieth century hand, states: 'Plan of the Duke of Portland's property in the parish of St Marylebone'. This note gives the date of the map incorrectly as 1768; this date may have come from a misreading of part of the damaged title.
The Howard de Walden Estate Archive holds three other copies or near-copies (all dated 1708) of this estate map under the references HDW 4/1-3
