Middlesex: Twickenham (now in London Borough of Richmond). [Orleans House estate]. Plan of two parcels of land belonging to 'Secretary Johnson', one containing a mansion house with 'a Large Octagon Room', the other 'Formally call'd Broom Close', adjacent to the River Thames. Compass rose. Surveyor's note gives names of landowners and rents.
Orleans House was designed by the architect John James for James Johnson, Secretary of State under Queen Anne. The octagon room, designed by James Gibbs, was added c 1720.
