North America. Map in three joined sheets of the city and liberties of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (now in the United States of America). Inset are drawings of the State House, the Hospital, the House of Employment and the Alms House. Reference tables to purchasers and lessees, with acreages and extracts from William Penn's appointment of commissioners to survey the city. Scale: 1 inch to 100 perches. Compass roses. Surveyed by John Reed. Engraved by James Smither. Dedicated to 'the Honourable House of Representatives of the Freemen of Pennsylvania'. An MS note on the left hand sheet reads 'Part of Reed's Map 1774'; this sheet was presented by Mr and Mrs Martin P Snyder in 1969, to complete the map.
