Surrey: Banstead, Cheam, Cuddington, Ewell, Sutton. Plan of arable and downland diagrammatically represented, with owners named; Banstead Down shown belonging to the queen. Shows hills and a prominent hawthorn tree on the boundary between Banstead and Ewell; 'magnam ripam' lying between Cuddington and Ewell; arable land indicated by representation of furrow lines; the lodge on Cuddington Down shown pictorially. No scale shown. Cardinal points: oriented to the south. Endorsed: 'Codyngton Bansted' in contemporary hand. With cover sheet. Plan drawn to show land in Cuddington claimed by Richard Whitefield. In 1532 Queen Catherine (of Aragon), who had been assigned the land in dower by Henry VIII, leased the manor to Sir Nicholas Carew. The map may be connected with depositions taken on 6 May, 30 Henry VIII, concerning a boundary dispute between the lords of the manors of Cuddington and Banstead (see E 314/42/19)
