'[Illegible] or Description [of] the Town Shipp or Graveshipp [of] Sandhall being percell of the Mano r of Wakefield, w th in the Countie of Yorke. [Mea]sured and Plotted a'o [16]07 By Ed Hopkins'. Three fragments of a map showing land tenure: numbered land parcels, glebe and free land denoted; Sandal Castle, 'George Sauvells House', other houses, shown in elevation; church in plan. Sandal Park shown with trees, standing and fallen. Water channel 'The Cut'. Red perimeter line [?township boundary]. Title set in plain cartouche. Oriented to the east. Cardinal points. No scale shown.
Parts 1A and 1B were found among Receivers' Accounts, in DL 28/30. Part 1C had apparently become separated from the other map fragments, and placed in DL 31/271, with miscellaneous maps and plans of the Duchy of Lancaster; it was later given the reference MPC 242. The three parts of the map were re-united in 1997.
