4 items (formerly filed with Governor J S Hampton's despatch number 9, 14 January 1864) extracted from CO 18/135. Western Australia. 4 maps showing coastal features, terrain and soundings. (1) 'North West Australia Plan of Tien Tsin Harbour by C.C. Hunt in Cutter Mystery, L. Hedland Comr., May 1863': covering an area to the east of Nickol Bay and Cape Lambert. Reference notes. Scale: 2 inches to about 1 mile. Compass indicator; west at the top. Some soundings by Captain Jarman of the Tien Tsin, May 1863. (2) 'North West Australia Plan of Port Hedland Surveyed by C.C.Hunt 1863'. Reference notes. Scale: 4 inches to about 1 mile. Compass indicator. Inset: panoramic views of the coast. (3) 'North West Australia. Chart shewing the tracks of the hired Cutter Mystery, &c, by Charles C. Hunt. 1863': covering the area between Cape Preston and Poissonnier Point; also showing rivers, shoals and the routes of shore parties. Reference notes. Scale: 1 inch to about 8 miles (calculated). Tracks by Captain Jarman of the Tien Tsin, 1863, and F T Gregory of the Dolphin, 1861. (4) 'North-West Australia. Chart shewing explorations about Roebuck Bay, &c., up to 1864. Compiled in the Survey Office Perth': covering the area between 121°E and 124°E and between 17°20' S and 19°S. Reference notes on soil, vegetation, fauna, etc. Scale: 1 inch to about 8 miles (calculated). Items 1-3 certified as true copies and signed: J S Roe, Surveyor General, Western Australia, 18 March 1864. Dimensions: (1) 66.5 cm x 100.5 cm; (2) 100 cm x 67 cm; (3) 38 cm x 80 cm; (4) 36 cm x 61.5 cm.
