3 items (originally enclosed in Commander Selby's despatch to J M Hyslop Acting Political Resident, Baghdad, 20 October 1859) extracted from FO 195/624. Tigris River (Iraq). 'Irruption of the Tigris Plans made in the lowest season by William Beaumont Selby Commander HM Indian Navy and surveyor in Mesopotamia': 3 maps, showing soundings, currents, the terrain, and place names: (1) 'The Hud irruption from Tigris'; (2) 'The Tigris from Duffas Grove to the Gurmah leading to Zobeyr [Az Zubayr] with the supposed course of the Hud'; (3) 'Svaji on the left bank one hour above Fil-a-Fil'; 'Oom el Henna on the right bank. Scale: (1,3) 1 inch to 40 feet [1:480]; (2) 1 inch to 2,000 yards [1:72,000]. All items signed by Selby. Sheet sizes between 63 cm x 94 cm and 41 cm x 42 cm.
