Description

1 item (formerly enclosed with a memorandum from the Admiralty to the Foreign Office, 10 August 1927) extracted from FO 135/240. Colombia: Isla de Providencia. 'Old Providence Island and Coral Bank': chart showing the coastline, soundings, hills, and settlements. Scale: 1 inch to 0.88 miles. Compass rose. Surveyed by Messrs J Cannon, G B Lawrence, and F W Sidney, in HMS Thunder, 1835; [?]engraved 1840; [?]revised to 1923. Insets: coastal elevations; map of Catalina harbour, scale: 1;18,150. Originally produced to show the nature of the 'Old Providence' coral reef, in relation to a disputed Colombian claim to territorial waters.
