Railway map, showing operating and projected government (red) and private (black) lines; also showing [old] provinces (named) and major towns. Reference table; table of line distances. Compass indicator. Produced by the Japan Railway Office. Insets: (1) Tokyo and environs; (2) Kyoto, Osaka and environs; scale (to both insets): 1:400,000. Lowther's report subsequently enclosed in despatch number 3 [from Sir Ernest Satow] to Lord Salisbury, Foreign Office, 9 July 1896.
