Description

3 items (originally enclosed in despatch number 25, 25 October 1892) extracted from FO 262/676 (folios 74-76). Japan: Kyushu: Nagasaki. 3 sketch plans showing the position of proposed kerosene tankers. (1) Ground plan showing the size of the land for the tanks, with surrounding fields, a stream, and soundings. (2) Plan of the coastline of part of the harbour, showing a mountain and the position proposed for the tanks. (3) [?]Tracing from a Japanese plan of Minamidaira, Tomachi-Shimonogo, showing Block 7, divided into numbered lots, detailing the nature of the terrain and names of land-owners; reference note on lot numbering; compass indicator with cardinal points. Dimensions: (1) 22 cm x 27 cm; (2) 29 cm x 39 cm; (3) 34 cm x 44 cm. Originally relating to the request of Messrs Holme, Ringer and Company for permission to site the tanks at the entrance to Tomachi Bay.
