Description

3 items extracted from CO 441/19/4. 2 plans and 1 sheet of text. (1) 'Plan of the Estates of Cedar Hill and Lower Freemans In the Parish of St. Peter Antigua. Surveyed in the year 1885 By Henry M. Adams S.S.': MS, coloured, plan, showing roads, villages, houses, works, acreages, boundaries, and the names of the proprietors of the surrounding estates. Reference table (struck through). Scale: 1 inch to 8 chains [1:6,336]. Compass indicator. A note (struck through), states: 'This is the plan numbered "A" referred to in the affidavit of Henry Martin Adams sworn the first day of October 1885 Before me'. Extensive pencilled amendments and deletions, including the alteration of the title to: 'Plan of Cedar Hill and Lower Freemans In the Parish of St Peter in the Island of Antigua, containing together 863 acres or thereabouts'. (2) Reduced version of item 1, incorporating the amendments; MS, coloured. Scale: 1 inch to 16 chains [1:12,672]. Compass indicator. A note states: 'In the Court of the Commissioners for Sale of Incumbered Estates in the West Indies Antigua. In the matter of the estate of the Honorable [sic] Henry Spencer Hardtman Berkeley'; both this note and the title are struck through. (3) A deed for the sale of the estates to Humphrey Ewing Crum Ewing and Alexander Crum Ewing, City of Glasgow Merchants, 1 June 1886; printed and MS. Dimensions between: 43.5 cm x 68 cm and 39.5 cm x 24 cm. Correspondence and accounts relating to the estate and sale remain in the parent document.
