3 items (originally enclosed in despatch number 209 from H Rumbold, British Embassy, Tokyo, to Sir Edward Grey, Foreign Office, 22 September 1910) extracted from FO 371/925. Japan: Kobe. 3 harbour plans. (1) 'General Plan of New Accommodation of Kobe Custom House', showing the progress of the harbour works in September 1910, marking quay walls, landing stages, breakwaters, reclaimed land, etc. Reference table. Scale: 1:2,000. (2) 'Plan of Kobe Harbour': showing new accommodation and a planned extension. Reference table. Scale: 1:20,000. Compass indicator. (3) Plan with the same title as item 1, showing sheds, cranes, the railway, reclaimed land, etc. Reference table. Scale: 1:2,000. Dimensions: (1) 43.5 cm x 58.5 cm; (2) 35 cm x 48.5 cm; (3) 43 cm x 59.5 cm. Subsequently place in Foreign Office file number 36576: 'Japan. Harbour Works & Custom House Construction in Kobe', 10 October 1910; items 2-3 produced to illustrate: 'The Harbour Works of Kobe', [a paper] compiled by the Finance Department, Bureau of Constructions, [?]1910.
