Description

1 item (originally enclosed in a letter from Harry Parkes to Lord Stanley, 1 February 1867) extracted from FO 46/78 (folio 162). Japan: Kyushu. 'Plan of Improvements at Nagasaki Proposed by the Japanese Government': showing the waterfront, with the foreign settlement, Custom House, and Chinese and Japanese areas; also showing waterways, bridges, a jetty, a garden and existing and proposed roads. Reference table. Compass indicator. The letter concerned Parkes's negotiations with the Japanese for improving the condition of the foreign settlement at Nagasaki.
