Description

2 items (originally enclosed in a letter by Sir Harry Parkes, 14 December 1867) extracted from FO 46/83 (folio 109-110). Japan. 2 plans of foreign concessions, showing numbered lots and streets. (1) 'Plan of Foreign Concession Koobe [Kobe]. Treaty Port of Hiogo [Hyogo], ...': also showing the Custom House, waterways, wharf, waterfront, graveyard and public garden. Scale: 1:1,200. (2) 'Plan of Concession Osaca [Osaka] ...'. Scale: 1 inch to 50 feet [1:600]. Compass stars to both items. Surveyed by Captain C Bullock, Lieutenant C Johnstone and Mr T Duckham, HMS Serpent. Dimensions: (1) 75 cm x 106 cm and 75 cm x 101 cm. Copies of these plans had previously been exhibited in the British consulate.
