Description

2 items (formerly enclosed in Foreign Office despatch number 58, to Sir Harry Parkes, 30 June 1873) extracted from FO 262/246. Japan: Kobe. 2 plans, with Japanese measurements, showing: (1) the police station and barracks; (2) the Hyogo government offices and court. Reference notes to colouring. Cardinal points. Item 1 bears 2 seals and the names of Nishi and Sumikawa. Dimensions: (1) 28 cm x 40 cm; (2) 40 cm x 39 cm. Used as evidence in the case of the alleged assault on a British subject (Mr Montrose Foot) by 2 Japanese police officers; further relevant sketches remain in the parent document.
