1 item (originally illustrating: 'Report on the Defence of Yokohama, Japan etc', by T S Roberts, 15 February 1864) extracted from FO 46/49 (folio 277). Japan. 'Plan of Yokohama': showing the area of the Japanese town and foreign settlements, with cultivated land, swamps, guard posts, British regimental quarters, and the line of proposed new roads. Reference table. Scale: 1 inch to about 200 yards. Compass indicator. Signed: T S Roberts, Deputy Assistant Quarter Master General. Roberts's report identifies the points (marked on the map by letters) that are strategically significant and ought to be defensible.
