Description

1 item extracted from CO 417/156 (folio 39). South-West Africa (now Namibia): Hottentot Bay. Sketch plan showing land claimed by the DePass Spence Company and the site of a guano deposit; also showing the coastline, islands and soundings. Scale: 1 inch to about 1 mile (calculated). Compass indicator. Originally accompanying a letter from V Hoffman and F Cornelius, German South-West African Company, Berlin, 7 December 1894, which was enclosed in a copy of despatch number 1 from Sir Edward Baldwin Malet, Berlin, to the Earl of Kimberley.
