1 item extracted from FO 407/146. North-east Africa: Atbara (now in Sudan). 3 plans on 1 sheet. (a) 'Sketch of country at the junction of the Atbara and Nile': showing main towns. Reference notes. Scale: 1 inch to 10 miles [1:633,600]. (b) 'Sketch shewing the direction of the Night March on the 7th-8th April 1898': showing the route between Umdabia and Nakheila. Scale: 1 inch to 2640 yards. (c) 'Sketch of Mahmuds Zariba near Nakheila shewing the positions of the troops at the battle of the Atbara': also showing the nature of the terrain. Reference table. Scale: :10,560. Compass indicators to all. Based on reconnaissance by Lieutenant N M Smyth, Queens Bays, Staff Officer, Intelligence; drawn by Captain Rawlinson, 16 April 1898.
