1 item (originally enclosed in a letter from Sir William Seeds, British Ambassador in Moscow, 20 December 1939) extracted from FO 371/24791. Map showing territory to be exchanged under the terms of the Mutual Assistance Pact between the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and the 'Finnish Democratic Republic'; also showing waterways, place names, railways; military-naval bases, and Finnish support depots and fuelling stations; (the area covered is now in Estonia, Finland, Norway, Sweden and the Russian Federation). Key to exchanged territories. Partly compiled in the Leningrad (now Saint Petersburg) Map Office directed by I B Suchoderev; drawn by B A Sacharov, cartographer; produced by the Chief Administration of Geodesy and Cartography, Council of People's Commissars (SNK), USSR; printed under the auspices of the Council of People's Commissars at the State Map Factory, S F Krilov, technical director, 1 December 1939; signed and published 4 December 1939. Sir William's letter notes that the map was sent for printing the day before the pact was signed.
