Description

1 item (originally enclosed in a despatch form John Cameron, British Consul, Danzig, 27 August 1931) extracted from FO 371/15578. Central and Eastern Europe. 'Eulitz-Verkehrskarte Nr. 7': 2 maps, showing transport routes, printed on both sides of a single sheet. Face: 'Eulitz-Verkehrskarte von Deutsch-Polen mit den polnischen Stationsnamen': map of the area between Stolp (now Slupsk, Poland), Kaunas (Lithuania), Uzhhorod (now in Ukraine) and Brno (now in Czech Republic), marking Polish [railway] station names. Scale: 1:1,000,000 Printed by H F Jütte, Leipzig; taken from Dr W Koch and C Opitz, Eisenbahn- und Verkehrsatlas von Europa (J J Arnd, Leipzig); published by Oskar Eulitz, Stolp, Pomerania. Dorse: 'Eulitz-Verkehrskarte von Nordostdeutschland, Danzig und dem Weichsel-Korridor': map of the area between Bornholm (Denmark), Königsberg (now Kaliningrad, Russia), Warsaw (Poland) and Frankfurt-an-der-Oder (Germany). Reference table to both sides. Scale: 1:600,000. Inset on Dorse: map of the Memel territory (now mainly in Lithuania); scale: 1:800,000. MS additions, coloured, on both sides, illustrating a proposal to shift the 'Polish Corridor' from Danzig (now Gdansk) to the Gulf of Courland.
