Description

4 items (originally enclosed in a report approved by the Commanding Officers of the Royal Artillery and Royal Engineers, Cape of Good Hope, 21 February 1822) extracted from WO 55/2455. Cape Colony (now part of South Africa). (1) Three plans on one sheet: (i) 'Stable for Commanding Officer of Royal Artillery shewing in Yellow the Partitions mentioned in the accompanying Return'; (ii) 'Stable for Respective Officers formed in conformity with the Board's Order dated 17th November 1813'; (iii) 'Ordnance Store No.11 shewing in Yellow the alteration made, the expence [sic] being defrayed out of the Extraordinaries of the Army'. (2) Two plans on one sheet: (i) 'Expence magazine'; (ii) 'Ground plan of the Quarters for the Commg Officer of Royl Artillery and Ordnance Medical Officer'. (3) 'Plan of the Laboratory Establishment at the Cape of Good Hope erected 1815': sheet also bearing an elevation and two sections. (4) 'Plan of the Royal Engineer Office and Ordnance Mess House shewing in Yellow the alterations that have been made since the 25th July 1811 ...'. Items 2-4 bearing reference tables to rooms. Scale: (1-2, 4) 1 inch to 10 feet [1:120]; (3) 1 inch to 12 feet [1:144] (plan); 1 inch to 6 feet [1:72] (sections and elevation). Dimensions: (1) 56 cm x 48 cm; (2) 56 cm x 45.5 cm; (3) 38 cm x 55.5 cm; (4) 29 cm x 48 cm.
