Description

5 items extracted from FO 195/755. Ottoman Empire: Dobrogea (territory now in Romania): Danube Delta: Sulina branch. 5 sheets of plans, elevations and sections relating to proposed rectification works. (1) 'Dessin No.1': plan comparing the state of the river at Argagnis in June 1858, October 1860 and May 1861. Reference table. Horizontal scale: 1 inch to 100 feet [1:1,200]; vertical scale: 1 inch to 20 feet [1:360]. Based on soundings taken by Mr Hansford under Mr Hartley's direction. (2) 'Dessin No.2': plan of proposed rectification work at Argagnis, May 1861. Horizontal scale: 1 inch to 100 feet [1:1,200]; vertical scale: 1 inch to 20 feet [1:360]. Soundings taken by Hansford, 2 May 1861. (3) 'Dessin No.3': sheet of sections and elevations of the proposed works at Argangnis. Scale: 3.7 inches to 110 feet [1:360]. (4) 'Dessin No.2': sheet bearing a plan, a section and an elevation showing proposed works on the right bank of the river at Batmiche Kavac, 19 miles from Sulina, [1860]. Scale: 7.5 inches to 20 feet [1:32]. (5) 'Dessin No.1': plan of the river at Batmiche Kavac. Scale: 2.7 inches to 1100 feet [1:4,800]. Compass indicator. Dimensions: (1) 55 cm x 108 cm; (2) 54 cm x 104 cm; (3) 66 cm x 68.5 cm; (4)35 cm x 45 cm; (5) 37 cm x 30 cm.
