'Korean Archipelago Southern Portion': map covering the area between 32°35' and 35°10'N and between 124°50' and 129°25'E, showing the islands to the south and south-west of the Korean peninsula, including Quelpart (now Cheju), and the Japansese Goto and Tsushima islands, with soundings in fathoms. Compass indicators. Surveyed 1845-1863; drawn by E J Powell, Hydrographic Office, under the direction of Captain R Hoskyn; engraved by Davies Bugler and Co; published by the Admiralty, 30 June 1871; corrected to January 1873; additions made January 1876. MS additions, coloured, marking features discussed in an Admiralty letter, 16 February 1877. A separate, unnumbered, sheet filed with the map, bears the note: 'This enclosure should have accompanied Admiralty letter of yesterday, 16 Feb /77, Relative to Survey of Korean archipelago by H.M.S "Sylvia". 17th February 1877'.
