Map showing contours, rivers, place names, forts, communications etc. Inset: 'Outline Sketch of the Lines of Boulair from Boulair Cemetery'. Compass indicator. MS additions show position of advanced works, June 1878. Sketched December 1876 by [G A] Cockburn, Lieutenant Royal Engineers, and [Herbert] Chermside, Lieutenant Royal Engineers, under the direction of R Home, Lieutenant Colonel, and on instructions from Sir Lintorn Simmons, Lieutenant General, IGF. Lithographed at the Intelligence Branch, Quarter Master General's Department, February 1877. Signed by T Fraser, Captain Royal Engineers and J C Fife, Captain, Military Attaché, Gallipoli, 1 June 1878. Enclosed in Henry Layards's despatch number 720 of 5 June 1878. A pencilled note reads: 'To be reduced - wanted early. 150 copies'.
