4 items (illustrating memorandum on the future Turkish State, 14 December 1918) extracted from FO 371/4354. South-west Asia and south-east Europe. (1) 'Western Asia Minor'. Map showing showing areas of predominantly Greek population and suggested Turco-Greek frontier. Also shows area of the Anatolian littoral to be placed under special regime and Astypalaea assigned to Italy. Reference notes. Scale: 2.1 inches to 100 miles [1:3017142]. Printed by Edward Stanford Limited, 14 December 1918. (2) 'A Map of Turkey in Asia'. 'Map 1'. Map with ink and pencil additions showing territory in western Turkey which might be annexed to Greece, and area of predominatly Greek population. Marked 'provisional map only'. (3) 'A Map of Turkey in Asia'. 'Map 1'. 'Secret'. 'Map to illustrate the agreements of 1916 in regard to Asia Minor Mesopotamia etc.'. A copy of the same base map as (2), showing French, British, Italian, Russian and international spheres [of influence], and also an independent Arab state - the area marked A to be in the French sphere and that marked B in the British sphere. Reference table. (4) Map of the area between Montenegro, the Caspian Sea, the Persian Gulf and Cairo. Overprinted to show sphere of influence allotted to France by the Sykes-Picot Agreement of 1916 and sphere of influence with which France might be satisfied under conditions indicated in note of 5 February 1919. Reference table to overprints. Scale: 1:3500000. Removed from Foreign Office comments on French memorandum respecting the boundaries of Syria. Dimensions of sheets: (1) 25cm x 33.5cm; (2) and (3) 20 cm x 24.5 cm; (4) 61.5 cm x 91 cm.
