At the foot is the satatement 'The figures refer to the boundary treaties and other documents contained in the body of the work'. (1) was used by Sir E Hertslet in the compilation of his Map of Africa by Treaty, 1896), and the statement presumably refers to this work. Original title 'East and Central Africa' cancelled and 'Map shewing the territorial boundaries of different states in Africa' substituted. MS reference table. This map differs in many details from (1) and (3).
