2 items (originally illustrating report on the armed strength of the Russian Empire, by J M Grierson, Captain Royal Artillery, 1894) extracted from FO 881/6581X (1) ID 877. 'Map of European Russia showing railways and military districts 1894'. Lithographed, coloured. Reference table. Scale: 1:6,300,000. Compiled and lithographed at the Intelligence Division, War Office, December 1891. Revised December 1894. The area shown is now in Russia, Finland and Poland. (2) IDWO 564. 'Map of Asiatic Russia showing Military Districts'. Shows area between the Baltic, the Caspian and Pacific Coast. Reference table to railways, boundaries, fortified places, telegraphs. Scale: 1:10,083,363. Lithographed at the Intelligence Dept. War Office, July 1886. Revised December 1894. Dimensions of sheets: (1) 61 cm x 46 cm; (2) 59 cm x 88.5 cm.
