Description

7 items extracted from FO 881/10167. Maps of the Turco-Persian frontier, showing territroy now in Iran and Iraq. (1) GSGS 2641. 'Sketch map showing Turco-Persian frontier as occupied by Persia west and south of Hawizeh.' Shows Persian frontier as locally observed also rivers, marsh, areas of cultivation and habitation. Reference table. Scale: 1:250000. (2) GSGS 2635. 'Sketch map of Muhammerah and lands in the vicinity of the Turco-Persian boundary as locally recognized'. Shows also boundary proposed by British government, waterways and principal buildings. Scale: 2 inches to 1 mile. Reference table to buildings. Published at the War Office, June 1912.(3) and (4) GSGS 2640A and B. Sheets I and II of 'Map of Shatt-al-Arab and Bahmanshir including Muhammareh and Abbadan I'. The maps show the Turco-Persian frontier as locally recognised, the boundary proposed by the British government, limit of date groves, limit of cultivation, telegraph lines and main channel of Shatt-al-Arab. Reference table. Scale: 1:126720. Compass indicator. (5) 'Sketch Map of Country in Neighbourhood of Hawizeh.' Shows waterways and areas of habitation. Scale: 1:63360. Compass indicator. (6) 'Sketch showing Turko-Persian frontier as occupied and claimed by Persia west and north west of Hawizeh according to statements of Persian tribesmen, June 1912'. Shows course followed by compilers, Turco-Persian frontier as locally observed by Turkey, frontier as locally observed by Persian tribes, and waterways. Reference table and table of astronomical observations. Scale: 1 inch to 4 miles. (7) 'Sketch of the province of Zohab' showing the frontier line proposed by the mediating commissioners and the lines claimed by the Persian and Ottoman commissioners respectively; also the approximante postion of Tchia Sourkh, the site of the Anglo-Persian Oil Company's wells and store, August 1912. Reference table. Scale 1 inch to 3.5 geographical miles. Reference table. Compass indicator.
