1 item extracted from CO 137/8. Plan showing extent of a plot of land falling between the Rio Grande and Port Antonio, Jamaica. Scale: 12.7cm to 80 chains [1 inch to 1056 feet]. Compass rose, with Tudor rose at the centre. Originally accompanying a letter of Attorney issued by John, Earl of Carberry for the surrender of the land to the Crown, 12 November 1709. The land had been purchased by Carberry from Nicholas Smith, 20 November, 27 Charles II [1675] and had been granted to Smith by letters patent of 1 October, 26 Charles II [1674]; no mention could be found in the index to patent rolls.
