3 items extracted from FO 12/68. British North Borneo (now Sabah, Federation of Malaysia). (1) and (3) Two copies of 'A map illustrating Mr. Daly's report on the newly acquired territory' [of the British North Borneo Company]. This report, 22 April 1885, forms Appendix A of 'Report of the Yearly Meeting of the British North Borneo Company' (BNBC), which report identifies the locality of 'Muara Besar' and 'Muara Dumit', where the company has accepted the offer of the transfer of rights to collect certain revenues from Mr Cowie. (2) A portion cut from a copy of map entitled 'Borneo shewing the lands ceded by the Sultans of Brunei and Sulu to the British North Borneo Company.' Scale: 1 inch to 50 miles. Insets showing Kudat Harbour (scale: 1 inch to 2 nautical miles) and context map of Africa, Asia and Australasia showing position of Borneo (no scale shown). The map shows current and former boundaries of Sarawak (now in the Federation of Malaysia) and British North Borneo (now Sabah in the Federation of Malaysia) and the district of Brunei proposed to be acquired by Sarawak, with MS additions showing former and current boundaries of Sarawak and British North Borneo, including the district proposed to be acquired by Sarawak. (2) originally enclosed with despatch from Rutherford Alcock, Chairman, British North Borneo Company, 15 July 1885. Dimensions: (1) and (3) each 40 cm x 25 cm; (2) 41.5 cm x 31.5 cm.
