3 items extracted from FO 12/67. Borneo. (1) A portion cut from a copy of map entitled 'Borneo shewing the lands ceded by the Sultans of Brunei and Sulu to the British North Borneo Company.' No scale shown [but 1 inch to 50 miles]. This part of the map shows the area ceded (British North Borneo, now Sabah, Federation of Malaysia). (2) and (3) Two complete copies of 'Borneo shewing the lands ceded by the Sultans of Brunei and Sulu to the British North Borneo Company.' Scale: 1 inch to 50 miles. Insets show Ambong Bay, Abaie and Usukan Harbors (1 inch to 2 nautical miles); Gaya Bay (1 inch to 2 nautical miles); Sandukan Harbor (2 inches to 7 nautical miles); Kudat Harbor (1 inch to 2 nautical miles); and context map of Africa, Asia and Australasia, showing position of Borneo (no scale shown). (2) bears manuscript addition showing the British North Borneo boundary on 5 November 1884. (3) bears manuscript additions and annotation 'The dotted line marks approximately the new territory acquired by the Company.' The areas of additional land on (2) and (3) are in the same area but are different. (2) and (3) both bear publication details 'Stanford's Geographical establishment 1881' and 'London.
