Rough sketch pan, without legends, of land at Newick in the parish of Heathfield, Sussex, showing four houses and two human figures among fields, bounded by hedges, a fence, gates and a cross. Endorsed in late seventeenth century hand on label: 'No 47 Newick Wood in the Manor of Langney. This is in a Cause Inter Ested and Gage in 1653 ...' This date appears to have been transposed from 1563, when the map is likely to have been produced as an exhibit in the court of the Duchy of Lancaster, in the case Isted v Gage. Related papers are in DL 1/49 ff 68-70; DL 4/4/33; DL 5/13 ff 66, 140, 157, 412, 476.
