Huntingdonshire. Title on dorse: 'Huntyngdon & Godmanchester'. Plan of the River Ouse and waterways between Huntingdon and St Ives bridge; towns of Hemingford Abbots, Godmanchester, Hartford and Huntingdon. Shows named pastures, fields in strips, roads including Ermine Street; ship, boats; crosses in road at Godmanchester. Churches, houses, water mills drawn in perspective; bridges in bird's-eye view. Text partly in Latin. About 1 inch to 159 yards. [Oriented to the north.] Under ultra-violet light, capital letters are visible in the bottom right hand corner: 'I H S'. In addition to title, 'No 63 Huntingdon Godmanchester' on dorse. To illustrate dispute between the Abbot of Ramsey and inhabitants of Godmanchester and Huntingdon over stopping of the Ouse and drains in order to feed the Abbot's corn and fulling mills at Houghton. Bills and depositions relating to this case are in DL 3/23, R1. The commission is in DL 3/23, R1i, and the court proceedings of November, 7 Henry VIII are in DL 5/5, f 46.
