1 extract from SP 12/122 (item 63). Drawing of two furnaces, inscribed by Lord Burghley respectively 'Old Order' and 'Burchardes Furnise'. No scale shown.
This drawing appears to have been made in order to illustrate the machinery used for smelting the gold ore brought back by Martin Frobisher from his voyages to north-west America. Dr Burchard [Kranich] or Burcott was employed in this work and was accused by Jonas Schutz, who was also thus employed, of appropriating the latter's designs (of which this appears to be one).
