1 item extracted from SP 59/2 (folio 127). Northumberland: Berwick-upon-Tweed. Plan of part of the fortifications overlooking the River Tweed, from St Nicholas Tower to Ness Gate; to show the line of fire and range of cannon (indicated by pictogram) sited at the Snook, to the east of the fort, and of cannon at the Dovecote on the west side of the river, directed against the fort walls. Also shows mole, rocks and ?mudflats in the river. No scale shown. Oriented to the south. Drawn by Rowland Johnson, Deputy Surveyor of works at Berwick, to illustrate his letter of 14 February 1559/1560 (SP 59/2, folios 130-131) to Sir Richard Lee, Chief Surveyor of works and fortifications at Berwick. Endorsed in Sir William Cecil's hand: 'Berwyk platt'. '1560 Feb 14' in nineteenth-century hand.
