1 item (enclosure to letter of 21 March 1584/85 from George Gilpin, secretary of the Merchant Adventurers at Middelburg, to Sir Francis Walsingham) extracted from SP 84/1. 'Antworpen': a bird's eye view of the Scheldt River, illustrating the Prince of Parma's siege operations near Antwerp (now in Belgium).. Shows the river and its banks, flooded in many places; fortified bridge; roofs and towers of Antwerp in background; fortifications, troops. [By Captain Philip Asseliers]. Ink endorsement in a near contemporary hand: 'The manner of the P[rince] of Parmas encamping uppon the river of Antwerp'. Also endorsed in pencil: 'Transferred from State Papers Miscellaneous 202, 7 Oct. 1920.'
