'La Ville de Ypre': plan showing city of Ypres, Flanders (now in Belgium), with fort, and disposition of troops. Also shows encampments of Germans, Italian infantry, Alban and Italian cavalry, Walloons, Walloon cavalry; quarters of the Prince of Parma and of the 'Marquis du Rubais'. Reference table to the fort, and notes on defences and the size of the garrison. No scale shown. Cardinal points; oriented to the south.
Although Ypres fell to Parma in 1584, the plan was made after the capture of the city, because 300 Alban horsemen, part of Parma's forces, were to form part of the garrison. Moreover, 'Rubais' is Robert de Melun, Marquis de Roubaix, who was killed at Bruges in 1585.
