4 items (enclosed with despatch no 4 dated 9 January 1878 from the Lieutenant Governor of Natal) extracted from CO 179/126. Natal (now KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa). (1) 2 plans on 1 sheet of the ground and upper floors of the existing buildings at Pietermaritzburg Gaol. (2) 2 plans on 1 sheet of the ground and first floors of the existing buildings at Durban Gaol. (3) Plans, elevation and section of a proposed prison block. (4) Plans, elevations and section of an additional block at Pietermaritzburg Gaol. Scales: (1) 1 inch to 40 feet; (2) 1 inch to 32 feet; (3) plans 1 inch to 23.8 feet, elevation and section 1 inch to 5 feet; (4) 1 inch to 6.6 feet. (1) and (4) Produced by the Colonial Engineers Office, Natal (1) October 1877 and (4) 15 January 1878. Sheet sizes between 33 cm x 41 cm and 99 cm x 63.5 cm.
